How we process payments and refunds

Some of our users ask questions about the security of our transactions that the timing of refunds.

Payment Processing

CallPlease uses third parties to collect credit card payment information and processes transactions. We never have access to enough of this information to complete a transaction on our own.

Our primary partner for managing your subscriptions that are paid for by credit card is Recurly. Recurly collects that payment information and keeps it safely tucked away in compliance with all the applicable financial data privacy rules and regulations. It is also Recurly that sends you a notification ahead of renewals.

Another member of this ecosystem, Stripe, offers an informative article on payment processing here: https://stripe.com/resources/more/payment-settlement-explained-how-it-works-and-how-long-it-takes

When you cancel your account using the Payment screen, all of your credit card information is removed from Recurly’s ,memory.

Refunds

Officially, CallPlease only provides refunds when we make a billing error. This almost never happens.

Credit Card subscriptions are considered self-service. You have the right, at any moment, to cancel your subscription on the Payment page. Recurly sends reminders before we charge your credit card is charged for a renewal.

All that said, we do refunds when appropriate.

How long to Refunds take?

That depends.

As this above diagram from Stripe points out, there are a number of players in the process. We don’t receive funds the moment your pay for your subscription. Likewise, it can take anywhere from 15 to 60 days for a refund to land in your account. We don’t hold onto the money. As soon as we issue a refund, the funds start their journey back to your account, through various processes that are entirely opaque to us.
